The history of Yuengling beer dates back to 1829 when David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurtemburg, Germany, founded the brewery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Originally named The Eagle Brewery, it has the distinction of being the oldest operating brewery in the United States, with an unmatched record of continuous operation since its founding.
During Prohibition, the brewery survived by producing three different near-beers. In 1933, after the end of Prohibition, Yuengling created a beer called Winner Beer to celebrate.
The company has been passed down through the generations and remains family-owned. Over the years, it has introduced a variety of beers. The brewery has continued to innovate and grow, celebrating its 190th anniversary in recent years.
